Daniel Radcliffe, Miley Cyrus Among Forbes’ Most Valuable Young Stars

LAST UPDATED: March 11, 2009 7:44 PM EDT LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Hannah Montana and Harry Potter have something in common.

Miley Cyrus, who plays the tween star on Disney’s “Hannah Montana,” and “Harry Potter’s” Daniel Radcliffe both earned high marks on Forbes magazine’s list of Hollywood’s Most Valuable Young Stars.
The list was ranked according to Forbes’ Star Currency rating, tallied from votes from across the entertainment industry. All of the listed stars were 19 or under at the time the list was generated.
Topping the list was Daniel, 19, who plays the title character in the “Harry Potter” series. The Brit has branched out with a Broadway role in “Equus” and has three “Potter” films yet to be released.
Miley Cyrus, 16, took the second spot thanks to her double-threat career as a musician and actress on Disney’s “Hannah Montana.” “Hannah Montana: The Movie” opens in April.
At No. 3 is Dakota Fanning, 15, who has starred in such films as “The Secret Life of Bees,” “Push” and voiced the title character of “Coraline.” She’s set to join the “Twilight” franchise with a role in November’s “New Moon,” and is reportedly negotiating for a rock star role in the biopic “Runaways.”
Oscar nominee and “Little Miss Sunshine” star Abigail Breslin was fourth on the list, and at age 12, already catching up to her peers with roles in “Definitely, Maybe” and “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl.”
And in fifth place, Hayden Panettiere, 19, has become a star on NBC’s “Heroes” thanks to the show’s “Save the cheerleader, save the world” storyline, but she’ll branch out this summer with a starring role in the film “I Love You, Beth Cooper.”
Rounding out the top 10 were “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson, 18; Freddie Highmore, 17 (“The Spiderwick Chronicles”); Keke Palmer, 15 (“Akeelah and the Bee”); Emma Roberts, 18 (“Hotel For Dogs”); and Anton Yelchin, 19, who will star in upcoming blockbusters-in-the-making “Star Trek” and “Terminator Salvation.”

Harry Potter fans not happy with new film

The latest Harry Potter film "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" is yet to be released but a few fans who saw a preview said they were not very happy.

The fans were particularly upset that main characters and key plot lines were erased. They also labelled some scenes as "pointless", reports thesun.co.uk.

There also doesn't seem to be much about the Half-Blood Prince himself and the film was dismissed as "soppy".

"The film is dominated by romance - Ron with Lavender Brown, Ginny with Dean Thomas, Hermione's growing love for Ron, Ron's potion-affected desire for Romilda Vane, and ultimately Harry and Ginny," said one fan.

"Anyone who has read the book will be severely disappointed," another lamented.

In this latest instalment, Harry is taught by Dumbledore to fight his arch nemesis Voldemort. The book features some important memories but the film features just two of these.

The Possibility of a "Twilight" Movie Not Sucking

No, I don't mean in a "Oh noes, I cannot suck your blood 'cause it's like totally a metaphor for abstinence" kind of way, but in a "Hey, this movie isn't emo, stupid, angsty, badly acted nor damaging to teens!" kind of way. A new director has been announced for the third movie in the Twilight series, Eclipse. Variety reports that The Orphanage director and Guillermo del Toro protege Juan Antonio Bayona will take the helm.

Oh, crap. I loved The Orphanage, and I was really looking forward to what Bayona had in store next, the very brutal sounding Hater. Knowing that it's a Twilight movie instead, I'm left as conflicted as a vegetarian vampire.

The signing of Bayona, of course, follows the trajectory of the Harry Potter movies—frivolous eyecandy until Alfonso Cuaron signed on to do the Prisoner of Azkaban out of left field, resulting in still the best Harry Potter movie to date. Yes, I know The Orphanage isn't as good as Y Tu Mama Tambien. Still, Bayona is already a much better director than Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weitz combined, and that's only going by one movie he did.

Can Bayona turn the franchise around to something legitimately wonderful, or even creepy? It does involve a serial killer of sorts.

Images like this would certainly please the teen female demo

For those of you who don't read the books, here is Summit Entertainment's official plot synopsis for the movie:

"As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death."

Summit wants to have a new Twilight movie every year. Eclipse is looking to become a Summer movie instead of a Fall release, with the projected release date of June 30, 2010. It will start shooting very soon, while the second movie, New Moon, is still in post-production for its November 20th release.

This obviously means that Hater is put on the back burner, which is a shame.
